Welcome to Ranee Thai Massage - Chiang Mai!
Sawadee Kaa, and Welcome to Ranee Thai Massage! We are located a short 10 minute ride/drive south of the Old City, in the countryside along the Ping River, in Don Keaw, Saraphi. (click here for directions/navigation).
My shop is quite different than others around the Chiang Mai area. First, my shop is an outdoor Sala, in the natural setting of my family’s home in the Chiang Mai countryside, as this is the type of natural environment (no artificial climate control or air conditioning) in which Traditional Thai Massage was developed over hundreds of years. Second, my shop has an open environment where visitors who come for our pool and herbal sauna can meet and interact with one another, and even observe my traditional massage work in progress.
I have hundreds of hours of formal, in-person study with many different Traditional Thai Massage schools and teachers (Bangkok/Southern Style, Chiang Mai Northern Style, Ajahn Jalat at Jongrak School of Traditional Thai Massage and Medicine, and Ajan Pichet/Aon Boonthumme in Hang Dong), and thank each and every one of them deeply for the experience and knowledge they have shared. In my learning, I have become firmly committed to recognizing that herbs (Yellow Ginger, Turmeric, Lemon Grass, Eucalyptus, Camphor, Sweetflag Grass (Acorus), and Kaffir Lime) really are not “optional” in the true practice of Traditional Thai work. The inclusion of traditional herbs, in fact, is the key that unlocks the full benefits that Thai Massage truly has to offer.
Pardon Our Dust!
COMING SEPTEMBER 1, 2026: Warm Pool and Herbal Steam Room / Sauna!
We are presently nearing completion of our new day-use Herbal Steam Room/Sauna and Pool right here at Ranee Thai Massage!
Massage customers are invited to add an herbal sauna day-pass to their experience, to relax in our pool before or after their treatment. Or, just book a day-pass on its own, simply to relax at our pool and sauna at your leisure!
Our pool is a shallow (chest deep) “warm pool” specifically designed and intended for aquatic bodywork and dance, as well as general relaxation.
Visitors are welcome to ask my husband, Keith, for an informal introduction to what aquatic bodywork is like, and even to try their own hand at by experiencing the peer-to-peer “Watsu Round” in which 3 people take turns being the holder, the held, and the helper, as developed, explained and gifted to the public at large by the acknowledged founder of Wastu, Harold Dull, himself, here.
